It's a shame when Police have action taken against them when they fulfill their duties. These officers did nothing wrong. All drivers are required to stop when blue lights and sirens come on. The driver was given faulty information by her mother. But that does not excuse her actions. Also from the way it sounds, the mother should face charges for interfering. I don't understand how anyone can say the Mayor Pro Tem does not have a conflict of interest in this matter. Obviously if she is related to the complainant then she has a conflict. It's shame that we as a society stone those who protect us. They can't get there fast enough if we need them but God forbid they take action against us when we are obviously in the wront.

I'm not from Marshville, but I can tell you as someone observing from a national perspective (as many are), that a terrible mistake has been made by the local government. I'm betting that the officers in Marshville will think twice about making a traffic stop from now on (as well they should). I feel sorry for your citizens.

Let me see if I have this straight. Your registration is expired, you aren't driving within the restrictions of your license, you lead police on a 3 mile low speed chase, and somehow it's there fault that they are more than a little cautious and upset when you finally do pull over?
When our police make a traffic stop they have no idea what they might be getting into. If you act aberrantly when being pulled over you automatically ratchet up the officers level of perceived threat and suspicion. Do not be surprised if they escalate their level of caution. It is for both of your safety. Sure it is smart to pull over in a well lit area both for your safety (and the officers. Most officers understand and appreciate you not making them get out in unlit heavily traveled areas) but it has to be within reason. It doesn't take a genius to realize that if you driving for 3 miles, the officers aren't going to be very happy or feeling safe at that point!
The city of Marshville should be ashamed for how they are treating their officers. Congratulations Marshville you are now the object of national contempt and shame.

I work for a police dept in california and last time I checked, officers are given the tools (such as guns) they have to effectivley do their job. When an officer is trained to use his tool sand then gets in trouble for doing his job the way he was taught, it is ridiculous. That officer had no idea what to expect when that girl finally pulled over, plus she has other charges against her as well. This is ludacris and I sincerly hope this officer knows he did the right theing to make sure he was going to go home safe to his family that night. I also hope that the city council realizes how ridiculous they are being. They are punishing someone for doing his job the way they hired him to do it! COME ON PEOPLE...THINK!

As a police officer with 25 years experience. I can tell you that who has been in many pursuits, you never fully understand what the fleeing driver has on his/her mind. What if the driver had a gun when a shot the officer when she finally pulled over? What would the Council be thinking of now.

These morons spend too much time on the golf course and not in the real world.

If i were a citizen of your community, I would be appalled that the Council suspended the officer involved.

This is now open season for criminals at this town. Do you really think an officer is going to pursue someone who flees only to end up getting suspended??

THE CITIZENS NEED TO STAND UP FOR THE OFFICER. WHY DID THE MOTHER PERMIT HER CHILD TO DRIVE IN VIOLATION OF HER RESTRICTION???

offensive

Youve got to be kidding me. How dare those officers, or even any other officer out there imply that they have a right to actually point those stupid guns at anyone. ESPECIALLY our innocent children. Don't you know they are our future? Surely you should know by now that you don't have a right to protect yourself, just those of us who pay your paycheck... That poor little princess, all scared by the big bad policeman. Next time she's off late at night past her curfew screwing and smoking dope, maybe mommy dearest, who probably bought the little bimbo's booze, should get off of her back and go pick her up. Oops, my bad. Thats called parenting.... That town totally sucks. If I did work there, I'd be looking for somewhere else tonight. This is MAJOR absurd, and I've seen plenty of absurd.

I wouldn't quit the job until I gave 2 weeks, and spent every day charging those pompous a es es 's for any thing and everything they did wrong... Every one of them. Especially the little hore and her brain dead mom.

Note to self: Move to Marshville and get away with everything, Town council= morons. Police and citizens there = screwed.

It's amazing how the higher up on the society totem pole, the less brain you have. Less oxygen up there or something? I'd like to meet this card (mother of the suspect).
